Rating: - A cup too far!
In spite of good intentions,I've never used this book because it requires measuring in the American cup system. I'm still loathe to use metric and rely on my trusty imperial scales, but this is a cup too far. Also the book assumes you understand the Weight Watchers points system. I've never been to WW (nor do I have any inclination to) so this book has left me wanting more than it was prepared to offer.
Rating: - Versatile Delicious Vegetarian, with low points!
Gorgeous recipes, that don't taste like you are compromising, and are very easy to make. I have made at least 10 of these recipes, and am delighted that there are so many left, which is unusual in Weight Watchers books. I don't find the American language off putting at all, and it gives a handy comprehensive conversion table at the back. My favorite was the paella dish, although the low-point pizzas were a great hit too.
Rating: - Don't buy this book
After all the good reviews, I has hoping for much better. The book has two major downsides, 1) There are no illustrations or pictures, vital in a cook book and 2) The book is in American, so many ingredients need translating e.g anyone know what a 'scallion' is?
Don't buy it.
Rating: - My favourite vegetarian cookbook
I have owned this book for a month now and have made 15 of the main course meals - all delicious. What I like most is the variety of the recipes - in the past I have found vegetarian cookbooks to contain several recipes for similar dishes - but everything I have made so far from this one is very different.
My favourites so far... polenta-stuffed peppers (3 WW points each), layered vegetable terrine (6 WW points for a substantial serving), spinach pie - spinach and Feta in filo pastry (5 WW points per serving). I have served all these to visitors and don't think anyone guessed they were eating "Weight Watchers"!
The methods are clearly described and all the quantities work. It is an American book so quantities are given ... Read More:
Rating: - A wonderful cookbook
Having been vegetarian for several years, my husband and I luckily stumbled across this book at the library (and subsequently bought our own copy). We have liked everything we've cooked from this book, especially the Penne with Green Beans and Herbs (which my uncle, a meat-eating caterer, LOVED) and the Spinach Pie. Hardly a week goes by when we don't make a recipe from this book. The recipes are simple, easy to follow, and use readily available ingredients (a MAJOR plus since many veg and weight-loss cookbooks require lots of hard-to-find items). The nutrition and exchange information is also very valuable.
