Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Well worth its price!
The Compassionate Cook is a fantastic book full of cruelty free recipes. I recently became a vegetarian and have had trouble finding recipes that do not use animals or animal by-products. This book changed this for me. The recipes are easy to prepare and delicious. Even my meat-eating husband enjoys my vegan meals. This book was well worth its price!

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - Not a cookbook, but a book promoting the bizarre PETA cause
What cookbooks talk about "Cruelty Free" Cooking? The last I checked, humans are designed to be meat-eaters and have been doing so for many millenia. The fact is, once you remove the emotionalism, PETA and similar groups don't have any logical, rational or factual basis for their beliefs. Being a vegitarian is fine, but don't push off your bizarre nonreality beliefs on everyone else.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Overall not a bad book!
This books offers a lot of interesting recipes. It gives wide variety of dishes, not simply one or two in each catagory. The recipes are very simple to make and taste delicious. Members of my family who aren't vegetarian liked them too. The only problem with this book is that the recipes tend to serve a large amount of people. If you are a single vegan, or the only one in you house, try to find a book where the recipe size is only for a few people. The recipes where great, but after having some of them for leftovers the entire week, you just don't appreciate them.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Cruelty free gourmet food
Ever felt like a vegetarian diet was too difficult to keep up? That there is not enough variety or taste in a vegan diet? This book proves that not only is it easy to eat delicious food, but that animals do not have to suffer in any way shape or form in order for us to eat. A lot of the recipes in this book take less than 1/2 hour to prepare. They produce better food than the average restaurant. They use fresh vegetables and soy products in some of the most delicious and healthy recipies available. This book provides excellent substitutions (try the "cheesy" macaroni!). It also opens the door for those new to a cruelty free diet by illustrating & utilizing the many different types of foods available to vegetarians/vegans. It ... Read More:
