 Rating: - Shallower coverage compared to previous editions.Blue Guides have picked a new author for this new, 17th edition of the London guide, and I find it covers London in a somewhat shallower manner than the previous edition. For example, the Westminster Abbey Museum is given only a general paragraph, whereas the previous edition listed the most important exhibits. On the other hand, the author is good at pointing out architectural details of buildings, and actually tells us where to look in order to see them. Generally, the book is not a bad work, it will certainly pass muster as a London guide, but those who want further details will, I fear,have to refer to previous editions. Therefore, this new edition does not replace the previous edition, but complements it. |
