Book Description:
Code Red, Code Red, it's a major disaster - the fire is out of control!
An explosive and dramatic adventure set in Australia from ex-SAS hero and survival expert Chris Ryan.

Synopsis:
Ben gets the chance for a trip of a lifetime when his mum is invited to attend a big conference in Australia. In the midst of a drought, it's hot. And it's dry. Drier than it's been for years. And it only takes a spark to set off a fire...As world leaders gather and a student demo gathers pace, a small flame takes hold - and suddenly an unquenchable fire bursts into life and an inferno of flames up to l00 metres high tear through the streets, threatening homes and lives. And in the smoke and confusion, an important general is kidnapped! Ben - just learning to fly - finds himself at the controls of a microlite and on the trail of the kidnappers...

From the Back Cover:
Code Red, Code Red… the bushfire is out of control!

A searing drought.
A parched landscape.
And a fire-starter with a box of matches.

Ben is in Australia when the hot conditions – and a group of rioters with a sinister agenda – combine to create a terrifying bushfire which horrifyingly, unquenchably, bursts into life and tears through the area. With flames up to l00 metres high, thousands of homes are caught in the inferno. And thousands of people must flee for their lives…

But the fire can be a great cover for a kidnap attempt …

Code Red, Code Red…

An unputdownable adventure from Chris Ryan, ex-SAS hero and bestselling author.

About the Author:
Chris Ryan:
Chris Ryan was born in 1961 in a village near Newcastle. In 1984 he joined the SAS. During his ten years in the Regiment , he was involved in overt and covert operations and was also Sniper team commander of the anti-terrorist team. During the Gulf War, Chris was the only member of an eight-man team to escape from Iraq, of which three colleagues were killed and four captured. It was the longest escape and evasion in the history of the SAS. For this he was awarded the Military Medal. During Ryan's last two years in the Regiment he selected and trained potential SAS recruits, he left the SAS in 1994 and is now the author of many bestselling thrillers for adults, as well as the ALPHA FORCE and CODE RED series for younger readers. His work in security takes him around the world. He has also appeared in a number of TV programmes, including HUNTING CHRIS RYAN, PUSHED TO THE LIMIT (Toughest Families) and TERROR ALERT (Sky TV, 2004).

Customer Reviews
Average Rating: out of 5 stars

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Flash Flood was better
I greatly enjoyed the first book, Flash Flood, and was looking forward to reading this one. However, I thought this one could have been better. Flash Flood is definately the better of the two, and the fact that a lot of the book was in a small plane and the main characters weren't in any danger made this book much less interesting. But, saying that, i think this is still a good read.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Not As Good As Flash Flood
After greatly enjoying Flash Flood I was hopeful that Wildfire would be just as good, unfortunately, its not. Most of the story takes place in a Microlight plane, flying far away from the actual fire and is rather dull. Although a fair bit of insight is given into the fire, the story is a lot duller and I found that it had nowhere near the impact that Flash Flood had. The speech was rather dull, everything seemed to be very matter of fact and I just wasn't interested in the characters themselves. The only thing that kept it going was the insight and the occasional interesting thing happening.

A great dissapointment after Flash Flood.
