Rating: - Down to earth cook book
What a smashing little book.I came across this book ten years ago,but nothing has changed since then. We put food in the oven,in it's raw state, and take it out ready to eat,and it's as simple as that. Well this simple( fantastic paperback),will show you how to do just that. I do enjoy seeing the tv chefs at work.what I dont enjoy,is the judges complainig, when it's the wrong colour.Don't they know there are people starving to death in the world. Well no matter what the colour, this book will have you feeding yourself in no time. When my wife died, all my mates said,!You wont manage to cook for yourself!.Well had it not been for this book, they may have been right.
One of the best books on my shelf.(in the kitchen that is).Oh by the way.It dosn't cover just eggs. Go on buy it,you know it makes sence.
Rating: - Great for first timer
This book is great for first time cooks but also for the more seasoned cook to be reminded of a long-lost cooking method. Now buying this for my sister who had to ringme to find out how to make scrambled egg for her and her baby boy!

As a Type 1 Diabetic since 1963, blood testing, correct Insulin dosage and correct quantities of sensible foods are my first daily basic essentials for continuation of life. When my ex-wife announced an unexpected divorce in 1990, I had to learn very quickly, how to cook; in order to survive. This book was my saviour. It teaches the rudiments for the preparation and cooking of: vegetables, meats, poultry and fish, in an easy to understand no frills, no nonsense manner. It recommends portion sizes/weights, cooking times and temperatures. It also suggests which vegetables to accompany the subject meat, poultry or fish dish. A first class basic cookery book. Fifteen years later, I still find myself referring back to this easy to use superb, basic, cookery handbook. Highly recommended!
Rating: - No useful information beyond common sense
I purchased this book as a reasonable cook myself, to hopefully try one or two simple recipes not currently in my repetoire.
This book regurgitates things that are often written on the packet when you buy food from the supermarket! I feel this is rather unnecessary.
I also tried a new recipe from the book, found the recipe far too brief, and the results did not live up to expectations.
Perhaps the author should have spent less time explaining how to fry or grill bacon (anyone can do that!), and more time explaining the not quite so simple dishes, like a Spanish Omlette for instance - I feel one paragraph was rather insufficient.
Rating: - So easy
When someone sees this book they often laugh at the title but then I tell them just what a fantastic book it actually is and they realise maybe they should have a look though. Started at uni, barely a kitchen and this book taught me how to make those simply things when I really didn't have a clue. Next to copying someone else its the best way to learn and still helps me today (and i actually have a decent kitchen now ;) )
