Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - I only took off a star for the lack of pictures!
This was the first vegan cookbook I bought after I went vegan, and I would say it's a really good first book for new vegans, and the basics of substituting foods. It taught me how to make vegan pancakes (which are much nicer and easier to make than the Delia recipe I used pre-vegan), has various burger recipes; and the lovely chocolate cake on the front! it's sectioned into breakfast, vegetables, pasta dishes; etc so easy to navigate. My only criticism is that there are no pictures apart from the cover which makes it hard to know what some things are supposed to look like, also pictures are good for inspiration.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Stimmulating and Exciting Recipes
One of the criticisms raised about vegan or indeed vegetarian cookery, is that it is "boring". Of cours this is a stereotype, but even the average vegetarian cook fails to raise an eyebrow with exciting cooking. This book has an impressive list of interesting recipes and deals with foods (such as healthfood stock, like nut meats and seaweeds etc) that some may not know what to do with. This is one book that I take off my shelf frequently and even if I don't use a recipe, I often find myself inspired by it.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Absolutely Excellent
I became a vegan in September and have purchased many cookbooks since then. Used none of the recipes as the tended to combine protein and carbs. Until LEAH'S book. I receivedthe book last week and have used something from the book every night. Simple good food and TASTY too. Re the ingrediants, I found that I could substitute and it still tasted good. The really ace result for me is that instead of making 2 meals, one for me and one for family, I can now cook from this and just add eggs/cheese/meat for family. I also find these recipes are an inspiration for me to adapt to my tastes if there are ingredients I don't like.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - A great introduction to vegan cooking
This is a wonderfully simple book which I found really useful when converting to veganism. The lentil loaf with tofu topping became my signature dish! It's quite puritannical however, for example it uses wholemeal flour in all the cakes which can make them quite heavy, so I would substitute less healthy white. Also, many of the ingredients are expensive so only good for occasional treats.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Delicious!!
With this book you will soon be trying out ingredients you never knew existed or combining them in ways you never thought were possible! Leah Leneman takes the bore out of traditional vegan cooking to bring you ideas for dishes from all corners of the globe. Beans on toast no more!! You will need to reserve some time both for the shopping as well as for making the meals, so I only use this for weekend cooking, but I have never yet been disappointed with anything in this book - all the dishes are very tasty, and even my non-vegetarian friends love them. I'm not an experienced cook and I found the instructions in here really clear and easy to follow. This is one of my favourites, would recommend it to all who would like to spice up their vegan cooking.
