Rating: - Growing Vegetables for the beginner and expert
This is a wonderful book explaining simply with clear diagrams about crop rotation, basic rules of growing vegetables, such as the importance of buying good quality seed and the importance of sowing seeds at the right time of year. For over 40 vegetables it explains the different varieties, the yields, the UK records of growing veg between 1960 and 1987, a calendar for each vegetable showing ideal sowing and reaping dates, with provision for you to write in your actual dates. There are clear colour diagrams, such as one page shows pests and diseases that could occur on plants, another general disorders. Lightweight book to take with you into the vegetable plot, or read in bed, or have on your coffee table. Finally a diary of what to do each month and a page to make your own notes. Published in 1989, but dateless.
