Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - The Flower Expert
A great book to have with you in the garden if unsure of any plants,
Contains all the information on garden flowers/ soils and pests and there prefered growing enviroment.
What I have found is that many glossy papers advertise flowers and they look great but after a quick read through of this book it becomes clear that they wouldnt be ideal for my garden or that they need a lot of TLC.
A lot of information in a very clear format.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Another Dr Hessayon book which is a great addition to your collection
As with all Dr Hessayon Book this is a great addition to your collection.

I have just been back to college to do a NVQ in Horticulture; I didn't know anything about these books until my tutor let me have a read of it. I found this book to be a great source of information for a beginner, and I also think very keen gardeners will also use the book as the information is vast.

It covers what kind of plants can and can not be used in certain soil type, also covers soil structures.

The book has some very good photos, some you will probably know and some you may not. It tells you all about the plant, where to plant them, how far apart, how big they will get.

The book covers pruning of the plants, also lists diseases that can cause damage and even gives the cure.

The book is simply written and well set out. The Dr Hessayon books are fantastic and you will use it all the time.

The book is a guide to what and where to plant your flowering plants, covers annuals, perennials, garden bulbs even alpines. Huge varieties of flowers are covered in this book and a great help to me on my course.

Easy to understand English, great pictures and full of great information for the novice gardener.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Best of Books - compulsory for the beginner!
This book has been a great source of information in selecting flowering plants for my garden. As far as I am concerned, it is a 'must' if you want to avoid planting plants that are unsuitable for your garden's soil pH and type, climate limitations, aspect, etc. Even skimming through the pages has brought unknown plants to my attention and thus prompted me to purchase seeds of these, thus introducing a continual expanded variety of flowers within my garden. The information keeps me on the right course in the care of my plants, yet at the same time allowing room for risk taking which often pays off. The format of the book is easily followed and the layout simple and uncluttered. Excellent book! - one which will be used over and over again till it falls to pieces, then I will just buy a new one of the same!

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Dr does it again.
