Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - An excellent buy, highly recommended!
I became a vegetarian in 2007, towards the end of my first year at university. My family were concerned about how I was going to cope with making meals that were nutritious and varied and if I'm being honest, I was a little concerned myself. However, it was something I really wanted to do. Initially it was because meat was expensive to buy and I didn't really like preparing it. I now think that if I was presented with a meat dish I'd be unable to eat it as it has become more of a moral crusade!

This was the first solely vegetarian cookbook I purchased and it's constantly in use. I love the way the recipes are laid out - the star rated difficulty levels, the step by step instructions and especially the photographs of the recipes - if you're not used to cooking you don't necessarily know what the food should look like! I cook for my omnivourous boyfriend regularly and he is always satisfied with the results.

A fantastic book for new students and new vegetarians alike

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - EASY, QUICK AND FAST
This book is great for first time cooks, the recipes are easy and quick to do giving a great indroduction to cooking!
But it is also great for those who wish to expand their hoizens on vegetatian food (even if your a meat eater) or who have just started to be vegetarian.

This book gave me (and still does)6 months of new and exciting recipes almost every night! I have started to use many new ingrediants and ways of cooking food that i won't have done before. My favourite was the Spicy Chick Peas, roasted pveg and pasta, spag bol, mago and noodle salad PLUS lots more! It is a great way for some to be indroducted to both cooking and veggie food!

It also has pictures but not stylised so much that its almost impossible to get it to the same standard like so many cook books! So what you make achually looks like it does in the picture!

I would also recommandard getting the Nosh 4 Students as it also has an extentise supply of Vegartians recipes I looked through it in a shop and a majority of the recipes were veggie or able to be adapted to be veggie so worth buying!!

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - delicious!
Fantastic, easy to follow recipes, the fact you do not need any measuring equipment is a winner for me, started off with the original nosh 4 students and this is the perfect partner.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - GREAT LITTLE BOOK
This was the first cookbook I ever bought and I have to say I was impressed. The recipes were simple and delicious and there was a great range from 5 minute snacks to more complicated dishes. My only critisism is that it's a little amateur. The pictures look a bit off-putting and sometimes the recipes are sligtly out of order. My advice would be don't be put off by the pictures - everything turns out delicious - and make sure you read each recipe through first and decide the order for yourself. But other than that, I would definately recommend this book. This book is perfect for any student (and most other cooking beginners too) and doesn't presume you know anything. It begins with telling you how to boil an egg. While some people will find that amusing, for some of us it was valuble information! A superb book which I whole-heartedly recommend.

Rating: 2 out of 5 stars - Dreadful
This book is so visually dreadful it prompted me to write my first review.

The book looks as if it has been produced on a Word package on a PC - very familiar, unprofessional looking fonts and basic formatting.

When I bought the book I loved the idea that it contained photographs of the dishes. However the images look like those from an oh-so-dodgy kebab house menu. The photographs look unprofessional and I would hazard a bet that they were taken by the author herself in her kitchen on various coloured tableclothes and plates.

I'm not sure if I have missed the whole point of the book, as the layout and images are so dire, I haven't been inspired to try any of the recipes, so I can't comment on that aspect.

So not only do I not use the book for cooking, but the lurid green colour and try hard 'nosh 4 students' title makes it look pants on a shelf too. Try the Hamlym 'Vegetarian Cookbook for Students' instead.
