Incredible! A vegetarian writer who not only has something to say but is an actual talented writer, as well. Braunstein's prose is not to be missed; his writing is poetic but not fluffy - more dry and pointed. Where you might expect an author to maybe have a sparklingly witty and insightful turn of phrase once in a chapter, Braunstein litters each page with them.
The book is separated into two sections with five chapters each, one section regarding health, the other ethics (hence "a dialectic on diet and ethics"). The health side comes from a broadly Natural Hygiene school of thinking, while the ethical comes from a traditional vegan stand point.
Far and away my favourite book on vegetarianism (and believe me, I have a few), it's an intelligent and insightful read. Sheer brilliance.
