Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Interesting small volume
This is a thin volume (62 pages) translated from the German which gives a good insight into what to do with your raclette grill.

Although "raclette" cheese itself is really delicious - especially with new potatoes and as a topping slice on barbecued (veggie!) burgers, you can use other cheeses. The author suggests butterkase, camembert, cheddar, emmenthal, gruyere, manchego, mozzarella, scamorza, parmesan, pecorino, feta, fontina, gorgonzola, gouda, roquefort and tilsit.

She runs through various recipes for the different parts of the raclette grill. Although you could just melt the cheese in the raclette trays, she suggests various combinations of vegetables and fruit (yes and meat and fish-for the meaties) with grated cheese toppings. The top grill surface itself can also be used to cook burgers and skewers. I could only spot 3 recipes for using a hot stone as opposed to a metal grill top surface- all meat based- and there was no explanation as to why this bit of kit was preferable. However as I'm planning to buy a raclette grill soon, the book did encourage me into believing that it would get regular use.

Alcoholic and non alcoholic cocktails are suggested- although dear reader I strongly suggest you avoid the Cynar Cocktail. Cynar is an Italian liqueur made from artichokes which I obsessed about for 15 years because I was too much of a wuss to try it out in Italy. Now I've never tasted drain cleaner, so it may be a false comparison; but when I finally got hold of a bottle of Cynar, it was what I imagine drain cleaner to taste like. Dilution didn't help. Only slightly worrying that this is the only book that has ever mentioned this brew!

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Just Right
This book is just right for a beginner to the Raclette, we had one as a gift and knew nothing about it until we purchased this book of recipes, now we are enjoying ourselves alot more and entertaining too. Thanks.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Just what I have been looking for.
I have had a raclette for two years having experienced it at a friends dinner party. Since then I have been making it up as I go along! We have had some fantastic evenings and now I have found a whole host of new and innovative recipes to try.
The book is well laid out, gives tips on how to serve the food, accompanied by lovely pictures of the food I am going to create! I can't wait to try some of them out with my family this weekend.
There are even ideas for entertaining your children (under strict supervision of course)

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Shame it's not bigger - but buy it anyway
I received a Raclette for Christmas and was thankful that someone thought to buy me the book 'Raclette' as well, because I had never used one before. I ignored the book to start with...it is only 62 pages long...because I was convinced that there would be no recipes in it for me. I am vegetarian.
How WRONG I was!!
There's a cheese glossary, recipes for beverages/cocktails, a Fruit, Veg and Cheese section, a Meat section and a Seafood section - and that's just recipes for the Raclette pans!

There are even more recipes for the grill on top!
The last part of the book gives you recipes for things to serve with the food from the Raclette, finally giving tips on how to plan your Raclette party.
As a veggie, there are 21 recipes in the book for me...but I reckon I can adapt some of the ideas from the meat section with little trouble.
If the book were just a little bit thicker it would have got the full five stars. It is in colour and has a photo for every recipe...sometimes with step to step photo instruction.
A good book to start you off in the world of the Raclette.
