Rating: - Vegans can compete at all levels of sports
Congratulations to Mr. Wiegand for going so far in debunking the myth that meat and dairy are required to compete at the highest levels of endurance sports! Also in showing that one can expect an increased edge over others while consuming a plant based diet during training and competition. His list of current vegan champions in their respective sports supports his work. Less sleep required, less recovery time and greater and greater energy are what one draws from his experiences and documentation from a vegan diet. While some look at veganism as a personal-philosophical -spiritual choice it becomes clear through the reading of the book that veganism simply is superior in every measurable aspect of physical and emotional health. I can corroborate that one CAN even do some training while vegan without necessarily eating/fueling up before a training session (i.e run, bycicling) as the diet gives so much energy. I will add through experience that the more raw one's diet becomes the greater one's energy is felt.
