In all the years I have had a Rubik`s cube I have never once neared its completion. I have a friend who`s best time on it was something like 2 or 3 minuets, but he`s a bloody genius compared to just about everyone I know. If you are even slightly thick in the head [kinda` like me (he he)] than this is most definatley NOT the puzzle for you. It is kind of satisfying to have an origonal Rubik`s cube [you can tell this by the centeral square`s trademark], but if you are not a cmoplete loony willing to spend hours trying to work the thing out, then why bother to buy it? I wouldn`t take the trouble of ordering this online because all toy shops sell these. Also, here it is rather more expensive than in some good toy shops. At least you can cheat with the stickers though! Anyway, this is definately a no-buy from Amazon, and if you take my word for it, a no-buy in general.

The Rubiks Cube is a living piece of toy history. Not only is it a classic puzzle, it has become a style icon that represents the 80s.
A simple cube with different colours on each of it's 6 sides. What you do is mix up the colours by turning the various moving sides, and then try to get the colours back to their original side. Sounds simple enough, anybody can do one side or two, but then as you try to do more one little move erases your work on another side! This is the simple beauty of the cube. If you can do the whole thing it might reveal if you are a genius. Its fun and its frustrating that at times makes me want to throw it at the wall! Yet there is a little bit of magic about it that keeps me trying to unravel its mysteries.

For me, this was one of the best toys ever invented. The concept is very simple, but the combinations run into the zillions, which means that you can't solve it by chance.
However, one can have fun working out how to solve it, then once you've done that, impress your mates by applying the same principles over and over again. There isn't that much to remember once you know how.
The main problem is in the mechanism and the stickers. These things don't last forever, and can start falling about once they've been played with quite a lot. Also, I have experienced the paint fading on some of the stickers. So it could be much more durable than it is.
However, this is definitely one of my all time favourite toys.

This is a classic toy and is great for all ages. It can be frustrating at times though.

The cube is quite good overall - its a bit stiff at first, but after a couple of days it gets smoother. However - once you build up speed the stickers start coming off - I've got around that by applying clear varnish around the sticker edges...
I'm told that you can lubricate the thing with something silicon based, but I've yet to try this..
