Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Innovative.
For someone who isn't too into games this has changed my attitude completely.
My other half is really into games and was keen to buy the wii when it came out, having seen the ads I was quite interested in it too- and we were right to be!
I am now an avid game fun, always on the look out for new releases. Having got more into gaming I've now bought a DS too.

Our wii has been played by our grandparents, parents, nieces, cousins, friends...people of every age and interests as you can think of.

Great for groups/couples or solo.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - the nintendo wii
The nintedo wii is so much fun!!

ok i gave it 4 stars because the graphics arn't great, and there are normally no arms for the little 'mii's'. I really enjoyed wii sports and think it is the best game, there are also other good games. The range of the controalers are good and it detects almost every move that you make. The remote controal is simple to use.

There are channels on the wii, and my personal favorite is the vote channel, you can vote and submit your own questions, there is a news channel and a werather channel, and you can buy sort of points, which you can buy new channels and games. The other good game for wii is smooth moves, it is full of mini activities that are simple, but quite frustrating!

A REALLY GOOD BUY!!!

First thing i want to bring up, the price. It is very expensive.
You do need alot of money to keep up with the games.

They have quite alot of new release. But alot of the game a pretty short of the money you pay out for them. Many games are classed really as "mini games" - you play them when your abit bored or are waiting for something. But alot you play a couple of time then leave on a shelf as a dust collector.

If your looking for cutting edge, jaw-dropping graphics look to the 360 or ps3. Its classic nintendo here.

Another thing the mii's, i liked them at first bit of a laugh, after a while though you do just wish they would go away. The new Xbox expierence introduced avatars, to be honest better versions of the mii's. More grown up and better drawn.

Some good points though
Alot of fun.
Great games.
Much quieter then the Xbox360.
Clever controllers. or the conventinal modern gamecube version.

It is alot of fun, many full hearted laughs... but to get the best from them you do need to spend alot. -Wii console, wii fit and board, 3 other controllers and a ds.

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - Most over-rated console ever
So, I finally caved in to the pressure of various 'friends' and family and the general vibe on the internet, that Wii is well worth the money.

What a load of rubbish. This machine is essentially a GameCube that has been redesigned and released with motion sensing controllers.

The vast majority of the games, that by the way are for the most part released at £40 brand new in shops, are just shovelware or Xbox Live Arcade games dressed up as full price titles.

I have been playing games for over 25 years now, and have never felt so conned. Nintendo have never been about the graphics, and for me graphics are not the most important thing, although in the current climate of super powerful PC's, PS3's and Xbox 360's, graphics are certainly more important than ever. Lets face it the Wii does NOT support HD in any capacity and cannot therefore be properly compared to this generation of consoles, and most of the games out are watered down versions.

For example take FIFA 09. EA Sports franchises have ALWAYS been about the graphics and presentation. On the Wii it is not and feels like a glorified Nintendo 64 game.

Yes, I get the point that the Wii is about playability, innovation and gameplay and NOT graphics, but when 90% of the games are heavily watered down and/or remakes/rehashes of old Nintendo games, then you just end up feeling conned.

No doubt the Nintendo 'fanboys' will flame me for this review, further proving my point that they are the most disillusioned people on the internet. I have no preferences towards any machine/make and spend equal time on my Xbox360, PS3 and PC. But one thing I will not be doing from now on, is playing on the Wii. Unless you are under 10 or are a very casual gamer the Wii is not for you. Let's face it - there is not much you can't do on a PS3, Xbox360 or PC that you can do on Wii.

The only thing I can think of is Wii Fit and all the Nintendo characters, and what's wrong with joining a gym, or digging out MAME or a similar emulator for older games?

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Simply brilliant
Just bought the Wii, as my husband thought it would be fun and we could game together. Well, it is tremendous fun and even better when played together. We bought Wii Play with the Wii mote so we can play tennis and not have to keep handing over the mote during other games. We have only played seriously the bowling and tennis on Wii Sports but our arms are aching already! The graphics are clear and simple, the sound is good (the pattering feet in tennis are hilarious), it was a doddle to set up, the console is tiny and the motes are light and easy to use. It's very intuitive and for hand to eye coordination it is superb. It is certainly much better than sitting with a console in hand, punching buttons. I really like the Mii characters you can create. Make a few and watch them pop up in the background of games.
Recommended highly and that's only for a few games. We have Mario and Sonic at the Olympics, but are saving that for when our arms get stronger. It will be a good way to work off the mince pies at Xmas!
