Thoroughly enjoyable despite the despair of the Iraq War. Liked the writing style that allowed yet another insight into the atrocities of war. The different people who pulled out all the stops fascinated me, none more so than 'Sam'. Even though, from the photographs of Lava, you knew the puppy would eventually make it to America, the emotional journey of Jay Kopelman kept me rooting for both him and his beloved dog. Good story with a good message.
