This book is going to become a word-of-mouth classic. A lot of my friends have heard about this book from others. Never seen it advertsied. And when we read it, we're all blown away. What Adrian Cooper has done here is to pull together a lot of strands of pilgrimage experience and made them amazingly accessable and readable. He introduces the pilgrims from many different faiths, including their beliefs and their motivations to travel to the world's wilderness areas as a search for sanctuary and inspiration. Then he explains the wilderness areas themselves -- their natural history, their geography etc. All really clearly. Each chapter is about the journeys within each of the world's continents.
