Resident Evil for the PSX more or less shares responsibility with Shining Force and Final Fantasy VII for getting me hopelessly hooked on videogames in my early teens. However the laughable attempt to weave a gripping story through B-movie style dialogue was hard to take seriously, even back then. Sadly in this visually stunning remaking, the lousy narrative crushes the tension and seriousness of RE like a giant radioactive turtle would an Ice Cream Truck.
If you're a die hard resident evil fan, you've probably bought it, completed it, enjoyed/ignored the horrific dialogue and voice acting and bought the T-shirt.
