A wonderfully written exploration of the story of the apple. The author traces the tale through the botany, history, geology, art, literature, zoology that influenced this important fruit. Extremely readable, and beautifully illustrated with original artwork and photos, the author guides us through thousands of years of history from Adam and Eve through to Johnny Appleseed. Loved the book. Highly recommend.

This tape belongs to the time when people were glued to the radio rather than the T.V. Dick Barton, Jock and Snowey get involved in exciting adventures which are told in a series of cliff-hanging stories - each one of which leaves you wanting to hear how it works out! Nostalgic, certainly, but I enjoyed the good, clean thrills and spills of this 'special agent'.

I hate it when people speak in platitudes like "this changed my life forever," but this book really did that for me. I knew about ADHD, but pictured it just as the boy who ran around the classroom or the girl who did nothing but stare out a window and daydream. I didn't realize that there was more to it than the extremes, and as a relatively responsible adult woman, I never saw myself in that light. This book helped me recognize myself and make changes I needed. For the first time I understood contributing factors to my weaknesses that went beyond derogatory labels like lazy or misfit. Dr. Hallowell has a unique way of focusing on the strengths and skills of individuals that is refreshing. It built on what was good and helped me move away ... Read More:

Few students of animal nutrition in the United Kingdom are likely to escape an encounter with this book. Now in its sixth edition it is a superb introduction to the subject for first and second year undergraduates reading animal science, agriculture and related subjects at university. I dare say that it will also be of use to farmers and others who are at the sharp end of animal feeding and wish to get a greater understanding of the underpinning issues. Minor gripes include that it is a little simplistic in places; I did feel that some subjects could have been dealt with more fully without increasing the length of the book too greatly. In addition, as with the last version of the book, the feeds nutrient composition tables at the back of the book still ... Read More:

I bought this book for some sing along fun with my young family. I'm not remotely religious, but there are some "classics" here that I enjoyed singing at school in the 1980's and I was surprised by how many I still knew well.
There are two complete edtions on offer, so I went for this the cheaper version, as I couldn't see any reason not to. When it arrived I realised it was cheaper because it is the WORDS ONLY edition - a fact which you can't quite make out from the picture (or at least I couldn't). Anyway, I now have the other edition too which has the WORDS AND MUSIC which helps if you want to play along as I did.

Structural Geology is a comprehensive read aimed for an audience with a knomledge and understanding of geology. This book explains what strustural features are known and how they are formed using explanations of stress and strain and many other proccesses. Despite being quite expensive compared to most geology texts it comes as a lasting hardback and ranges in detail from an geology undergraduates understanding beyond. Structures are described and clearly illustrated with good explanations along with mathematical reasoning which may need further explanation to anyone not too familiar with mathematical equations what the formulae are showing. All in all a very comprehensive read aimed for a wide audience.

The highlight of this CD has to be Genesis of the Daleks. This version of Genesis is slightly different than it was on TV, with narration and edits. In places, this can be confusing, such as in the beginning, the Doctor "steps out of the TARDIS" but than needs this thing called a time-ring to get home... This is only a minor niggle, as you soon get swept away with the story. I listened to the cassette version of this before seeing the video, and was never disappointed. The gritty script holds up well and, if anything, imagining the story taking place is better than seeing the vivid colours on your TV. And it's worth getting this just to hear Exploration Earth- if Tom isn't going to do a Big Finish serial, this may well be the only 'new' or unheard ... Read More:
