Although some of the recipes are a little intimidating, this is a fun cookbook that makes you feel like you are cooking like one of the best chefs of the bay area.

This is a masterpiece of information and recipes that are mouthwatering. I am a food writer and recipe developer and this book is one of my most used resources. Hope to see a new version of Waters' "Chez Panisse Menu Cookbook" (my 1982 copy is nearly worn out) in the very near future.

I have got a LOT of cookery books, and there are only three (out of over one hundred) that I would not like to be without. One of them is "The Naked Chef", another is "Keep it Simple" by Alastair Little, but the most treasured is definitely "Sally Clarke's Book" - it is indispensable: utterly in tune with today's requirements for simple, delicious dishes based on full flavoured, uncompromising quality, this season by season guide is unsurpassable for inventiveness, common sense and inspiration. You cannot fail to be inspired and delighted by this book - it is absolutely first rate.

I can't recommend this book highly enough - it's full of beautiful and honest still lifes of lovingly grown and presented fruit and veg (and a few flowers). A combination of spare design and detail shows you what photography is capable of. The story of how the plates were recovered (some had been used to grow lettuces!) is interesting in itself.
When I feel low or stressed, this is the book I go to.

Alice writes in the voice of her daughter about her daughter's favorite recipes and adventures at the restaurant. Wonderful reading and DELICIOUS recipes. At first looks a little like a children's book, but great for adults!

My first impression of this book was that it is BLACK and WHITE... wasn't quite what I expected... I thought there would be at least SOME colour pictures in there of some nice oriental dishes... nevertheless, this book does have a range of good recipes from several countries, and is quite detailed... however, due to it's black and white pages, this book does not really attract you to pick it up and read the content of the book...
