I wanted a simple cookbook with interesting recipes, and this book is all that and more. The photos made me hungry before i had even started preparing anything, and the scampi and chips recipe is the best i have ever seen. A must for anyone who wants good-looking and good-tasting food.

I'd agree with other reviewers that it's maybe not for total novices, but I love this books and all the cakes I've made from it have turned out very nicely (except for the glaze for the flourless chocolate cake, cake was great, glaze didn't work). A couple of friends who are less domestically inclined than me bought the book after browsing through it at my house and they love it too. Plus it really is a beautiful read.

Firstly, the images of this book as just as delicious as the cakes book and once again once you start baking they'll be no stopping you!
A great all rounder of pudding books-there's recipes for posh jellies (yes really posh jellies!) that would impress you're dinner guests to more traditional desserts like a crumble.
What had me at first sight was the chocolate fondant pudding...it's so easy to make you'll keep making it to surprise those who think baking is only for the older generation.
There's a sweet treat for everyone in this book. Great buy...and will look yummy on you're book shelf too.

Out of all of my American, French, Italian and British cookbooks, this book is my favorite. I have the hardcover version, and it is so beautiful. I love to browse thru it on a Sunday afternoon. Every recipe I have tried has come out wonderful. My favorites are the stuffed dates w/ mascarpone, which I make often for company, and I also love the simple pasta w/ roasted cherry tomatoes, basil and olives. Simple, but elegant recipes. I like the photographs and text about knives, cookware, etc., unlike the other reviewer, I find it to be inspirational and an enjoyable read.

This book has taught us how to cope with some of the less common vegetables that you encounter. It has some easy but very effective recipes - I highly reccomend it for anyone that gets an organic veg box and needs to know what to do with the vegetables
