I find that the 'Dummies' books tend to dumb down the subject that they are covering. For me, the best book for learning how to meditate is 'Mindfulness in Plain English' by Bhante Gunaratana. It doesn't matter that it is written by a monk - you do not need to go to a monastery or have any religious beliefs to practice meditation. For me, Buddhist monks are the real 'experts' on meditation as they have 2500+ years of experience behind them!

Dr. Ornish has written some landmark books including Dr. Dean Ornish's Program for Reversing Heart Disease; Eat More, Weigh Less; and Love and Survival. Within those books, you will find life-changing scientific perspectives:
1. With proper diet, your health will improve without drugs or surgery.

My wife and I have use those recipes and to our surprise the food look visually appealing as well as delicious!
We have found the recipes easy to use. It took significantly less than than other vegetarian cookbooks (some of which are loaded with fat) took about 2 hours to make. On average, we found it took from 1/2 to 1 hour to prepare.
I also highly recommend reading Part One in Ornish's earlier book, "Eat more, weigh less". That essential section laid out, in depth, the foundataion for this book.

This book has become something of a family tradition! My brother bought it for weight loss reasons, I use it becasue I follow a low-fat diet for health reasons and my father just bought it following heart bypass surgery. If you like cooking, don't want to sacrifice taste and want to eat low-fat food for any reason then this may be the book for you. Many of the recipies are complex but can be simplified with very little effort. The medical bits at the beginning are eye-opening too. Bon appetit!
