Although thorough, sometimes whilst setting out to be unambiguous it actually ends up being confusing. For example, certain definitions are used as if they were common everyday terms of which people already have a clear understanding; for instance, it uses 'STOP', 'WAIT' and 'PARK' without offering a clear explanation as to the subtle differences in these terms. Also some rules seem to be a bit of a Catch-22 situation: how can ANY vehicle load or unload in a Bus Lane without first being able to drive in one (an act which is forbidden unless otherwise permitted by the sign).
It gets 3 stars though as on the whole it is quite complete and the examples, where given, are good. >>More Details |

I am a driving instructor and I insist that all my pupils get and use this book. If you have been driving for years you should read through it to see just how many things have changed but especially read Chapter 10 - Defensive Driving. If most people drove this way all the time there would be far fewer deaths and injuries on the roads!
If you are a learner driver or intending to start learning grab it now if you don't have it and treat it as your bible for learning to pass your test and continuing on to a life of safe driving. Read up on the topic you are going to cover with your instructor before the next lesson and you will be amazed at how much more you get from the time with your instructor. I bought this latest book to prepare my theory test, I studied the Highway Code first and then I did all the practices on the book. And I had full marks on my theory test, thanks to this book. The content is brilliant, however, I think the design is so so, they could do better.

This "complete learner driver pack" does exactly what it promises to do. Three books packed with information on how to pass your theory and practical tests are ideal for learner drivers and those who are teaching people to drive.
The theory test book gives every question that you could be asked in 2008/2009 and gives each with an answer and explanation conveniently located on the other side of the page. Whilst practice elsewhere is required to pass the hazard perception, this is what got me past the multiple choice part of the test. This book is aimed in the most part toward those who are looking into completing a CBT course. As such it did provide me with a run down of want to expect on the course, how its structured and what you'll need to complete in order to pass. The layout is good overall with short bullet points and diagrams/photographs to assist in explanations of the course content. I found the book very helpful in research before going for the test, and subsquent chapters also deal with the theory test and the practical bike test should you want to go for a full bike licence.
