I bought this book on the strength of its 5 star rating and the excellent reviews that others have left for it. It arrived this morning and I am delighted with it. In fact I've wasted a good hour pouring over it! It has really useful tips, clear instructions, practical advice (e.g. highlighting what can be done in advance and what kit & basic ingredients you should ideally have in your kitchen) and beautiful photography. An excellent book and I can't wait to throw my next drinks party to have a crack at some of the many tempting recipes - I just know they are going to wow & impress my guests.
I certainly wasn't disappointed and I'm sure you won't be either - and it would make a lovely gift, even for reasonably amateur cooks.

I brought this book primarily because my son is a finicky eater and at this moment in time he is going through a phrase where he just wants to eat pasta. Therefore, my aim was to find a cook book that would provide me with tasty recipes that were quick and easy to make. For as a working parent my time is precious and the last thing I wanted to do when I got home was spent ages in the kitchen cooking dinner.

I can safely conclude that the pasta dishes that I have made from this cookbook so far have been quick and easy and my son has loved it up! So a big thumbs up for this one.

I love baking and have stacks of books but I have never bought a bread making book as most recipe books seem to cover it in some form or another. But I borrowed this book from the library out of curiosity and as it's the school summer holidays I thought it would be fun to try and make some unusual bread with the kids. I have been so pleased with the book and the choice of recipes I have decided to buy a copy for my own 'cooking library'.

As the other reviews say, there is so much detail about bread baking starting with a gallery of fantastic loaves to tempt you before you even started!!! Also the basic techniques in lots of 'user friendly' detail, the essentials (lots of info on types of wheat and non-wheat flour).

Just excellent, this book took my barbeques to a new level. A rich combination of inventive recipes with excellent use of spice and tastes and superb results to the table. No more charred chops and wings in our house!

One very useful point is the recommendations for each recipe on how to prepare the food both with an indoor grill and an outdoor grill so you can prepare the recipes at any time, not just in the Barbeque season.

Well worth the purchase...I have already bought it for friends...and it will be on my Christmas gift list for more of them....be prepared!

This book covers the areas that many don't - i.e. the techniques rather than just recipes. For example, it covers choosing of ingredients and methods of garnishing better than any other book that I have read. An unmissable book for the home cook or professional, including plenty of vegetarian ideas. One thing - if you are from the UK or Europe, MAKE SURE that you get the UK edition, as the US edition doesn't use metric measurements or terminology.
