A great little book, invaluable for calculating food intake, a must for nutrition & weight management advisers. Shame it's an old publication -would be great to see an updated version & an index would make searching easier. Wouldn't be without it.

As a new student to the amazing world of integrative therapy last year, there were several books that I could not get to grips with, particularly Clarksons writings.
However this little book helped me to get the understanding that I needed to get the essays completed and I called it my 'bible' as it was one book that I referred to again and again.
It is well written, with clear simple language, yet meaty enough for the trainee counsellor to be able to use and understand the complexity of the issues raised.
As I think I nearly wore the Library's copy out last year, I might need to splash out and buy my own this year!

This is an excellent book which will be of interest to anyone who is interested in the weather and British history - it has a lighteness of touch which makes it extremely readable as well as being very informative. It starts with a look at the Great Storm of 1987 and gives a really interesting behind-the-scenes look at how the Met Office coped with an event that caught us all off guard. One can't help feeling sorry for Michael Fish and Ian McCaskill who bore the brunt of a nation's anger that we weren't warned about the impending storm. However, in this book they give their side of the story. But the book is about more than just the 1987 storm it looks at a wide range of dramatic weather events throughout history and is bang up to date in its ... Read More:

As this book was written so long ago, I expected it to include a section on the preservation of vegetables using the water bath method. As this was one of my reasons for buying this particular publication, I was very disappointed that such a section was not included; it just concentrates on freezing vegetables. However, for everything else, it is an excellent book, with a good selection of recipes.

The one thing I actually do not like is the way this book is so filled with the authors' personal anecdotes. It is a weird mix of being instructional and factual (although most of it is stuff that you find in abundance online of you look) and being an insight into some in my mind too personal matters. However, I think this is a good book for anyone who has a beginning interest in bottoming, and for those who are more experienced it will offer a little more than just an updated library. It is one of those books that makes the attempt to cover most of the scene in a rather limited amount of space, and the result is somewhat a brush-over of things that generally require much more attention. Having said this, I liked the book. It is not exactly a coffee table ... Read More:

An excellent and comprehensive guide to "Mobile Web 2.0". I heartily recommend this book to anyone who would like to deepen their understanding of the potential for glorious creative explosions (and thereby business opportunities) where mobile and web collide.
Only the rather low standard of sub-editing (typos abound) and graphical reproduction (diagrams are not always easy to decipher) lose this book its fifth star in my book. But this is still a must-read for students of the social and mobile web.
