This is a really nice book. Nice is a hackneyed word, but I feel it sums this biography up very well. Geoff Hamilton's story is well written (primarily by Gay Search) with affection and humour but without rose tinted spectacles. The result is an honest account of Geoff's life and the development of his career, his gardens and his thinking. A fascinating account of a man who stuck to his principles and who cared for his fellow men and the planet on which he lived. Bravo Gay and Tony! I read this in a single sitting, I coudn't put it down. What a loss to us all Geoff's early death was, but his philosophy of life and gardening lives on and is well encapsulated here. Highly recommended.

I've been an avid gardener for many years but always had a large yard to work in. We recently moved to an apartment with a small balcony and I realized I faced new challenges in gardening.
This book has fresh and exciting arrangements that are easy to "do yourself." The book discusses form, color, and seasonal interest. Most of the plants used are readily available at garden centers, yet these are no run-of-the-mill arrangements. Alternate plants are suggested for each grouping.
This is simple enough for a beginner and exciting enough for an experienced gardener. The photography is beautiful and the text and layout easy to follow.

Gay Search has managed to combine beautiful photography and text to bring an educational and thought provoking book to readers. The explaination of the history of sensory plants and the catogorizing of the different uses was excellent, and the reader is able to find specific plants of personal useage. A well thought out and sympathetic section was available to help allergy suffering gardeners find low pollen plants, this was of use to myself as this is a particular problem of mine during most of the year, however, putting this aside I carry on using a good mixture of plants and simply put up with the hay fever regardless! I am also keen on aromatherapy and the easy to follow instructions and uses of the oils was clear and precise. Read More:
