I bought this book on end December 2007 for my father who is a very advanced Sudoku player. Unfortunately, there are not any advanced Sudoku books in the Greek market (where we live) so every time I have to buy for him books from Europe, where I travel alot. I have found very strong puzzle books in the UK and in Germany but the books containing techniques and strategies were always "basic" with rather obvious hints for the very advanced player.I didn't know the actual content of the book before buying it so I didn't have many expectations. My father was thrilled with it and after reading it he was able to implement the techniques in solving some diabolical puzzles that he couldn't before. He recommends it as the best Sudoku book he has read. 2 ... Read More:

It's v. good to have a contemporary text specifically for readers on this side of the Atlantic. There are a number of good texts on sport sociology but this seems to me the easiest to learn from - the reflective points and, especially, the actvities help explain the subject and make its significance clear. Also there's a very welcome lack of jargon-riddled waffle!

If, like me, you agree with Stephen Fry's assessment that Peter Cook was indeed "the funniest man to ever draw breath," then you'll welcome the publication of this tome from the folks at the Establishment, the Peter Cook Appreciation Society (stabbers.org) who for a time were responsible for the dead tree periodical Publish and Bedazzled (AKA Pub & Bed). I mean fans, of course. ... Read More:

Incredibly easy, dashing one-dish lunch or dinner-party fare. Have you noticed that guests just don't want to eat piles of stodge anymore? Peter Gordon's Salads are utterly delicious but can be deceptively presented as healthy and even as GI Diet-friendly. Thing is, you can tell he's a chef; basically the setup he imagines is a kind of mise, where you prepare each ingredient separately and then assemble. This can seem like a lot of faff after work, by the time you've toasted this and roasted and peeled that. Some of the recipes have one ingredient too many. But this is a fine book for entertaining; I've now made half a dozen of his salads for dinner or lunch parties and have been complimented every time.
