my daughter had to read this book for homework. i have never been as bored by a book in my life. my daughter who was 9 at the time and luckily had an interest in reading found it tough going. the story drags, the characters are uninspirational and the story is just plain monotonous. for children who havn't go a great interrest in reading anyway stay well away from this book. a one star rating is too good for this book

Unfortunately I was encouraged to read by my parents. Unfortunately, ONLY because I learned to read quickly and missed out on the pleasures of "children's" books - I am grateful I was taught to READ. I was given, and read, "adult" books from the age of, about. 5/6. My birthday present for my 8th birthday was "20,000 Leagues Under The Sea" (In English but unabridged) 'cos the Disney film had just been released. I had never read "children's" books. I only read "The Wind In The Willows" round about 1999/2000 when I was 50ish and I was amazed - what had I missed out? So I started hunting, "Railway Children"," Travels of Oggy", "Black Beauty", "Killer Cat" etc. Then I recently (2008) found this. The story, and the telling, are wonderful. ... Read More:

Superman is missing, presumed dead. The JLA are all goverment funded and corrupted by the power. Lana and Pete are terrorists and Jon Kent, Lois Lane's son, can now leap tall buildings in a single bound even though he can't seem to keep a date. What else could go wrong? This is a pretty good Elseworlds tale from seeing Jon's comical reaction to finding out about Lois' complictated explanation about her relationship with his dad, to the consumate ease Luthor explains what's been going on. I especially liked the way Jon argues with Supes, making him look exceedingly stale in the new world he's come into. Look out for the human reaction to emerging superpowers and a few shocking betrayls from close friends.

If you want to know how to begin studying the Bible this is a must for you. It explains how to begin, which tools are useful and which are essential. Although the book takes you into great depth it is done gently, with humour and without any sense of condecension. I would recommend it.

This is a must have for all teachers of EFL/ESOL. It far surpasses the run-of-the-mill photocopiable activity books available to date. Clearly sectioned, easy to use, innovative and far clearer than any resource book I've used. The content can be used alone or as a supplement and I intend to buy the Intermediate version very soon. It's worth every penny. Useful not only for newly qualified teachers but also for experienced teachers looking for new ideas. Congratulations!!!!

This is a very good book. It contains activities graded for students of different levels. Some activities can be done in pairs and others in small groups. Games are intended to practice grammar structures ranging from the basic ones (gerunds, present, past, word order) to the most advanced ones (conditionals, phrasal verbs, reported speech, etc). Activities involve information gap, bingo, guessing games, problem-solving, role plays, find the differences, jigsaw readings, surveys, memory and board games. All games are photocopiable and the visuals are really attractive. If you like playing games with your students (no matter their age) this book can't miss in your library!
