I bought this book for my Mom who had just been on a one day course in Bristol on how to live with cancer and how food can help. Both my Mom and Dad found the course very useful, so I thought I'd buy them a book that would hopefully back up what they had learnt.
This book is fantastic - so my Mom says, it backs everything up that she learnt on her course, and is written in a precise and clear way, that she can understand. The recipes are most useful. One of the authors was actually the tutor on the course, and the other was the oncologist.
This book is a must if you are living with cancer and have just found out (like my Mom did) that she is not to have any dairy products in her diet.
When a healthcare professional suggested that a dairy intolerance might be causing my many and varied health problems, I was horrified. I love cheese! I've been veggie for over 20 years! I needed more information.
When I saw this book in a health food shop, my initial reaction was to ignore it - I don't do fad diets. However, on skipping through the pages my interest was caught, so I bought it and I'm so glad I did.
It was read, almost in its entirity, at the first sitting. The factual information on nutrition and how the body metabolises various foods is fascinating - a real eye opener! Who would have thought that eating a high amount of dairy produce could actually be counterproductive in the fight against osteoporosis? ... Read More:

I have tried many recipes from this book and every one has been absolutely delicious. Not only is the food tasty but it also feels good. Jane Sen is involved in cancer and nutrition so the recipes are particularly healthy but definitely not boring. I would quite happily spend the rest of my life eating food from here. I am myself a kind of semi-vegan vegetarian - I only really eat dairy products when I am out. But I think that no matter what your diet is you will find food to enjoy in here. This book proves that vegetarian/vegan food can be tasty and exciting. The introduction shows that it is also a very healthy option as long as one is aware to keep a balanced diet. I have quite a few vegan and vegetarian cookery books. This and its sister volume ... Read More:

Currently in remission from cancer, I decided I would do all I could to avoid it returning again. Although I previously had a relatively healthy diet, I was not a vegan, and so very reluctantly, I bought this book.
The first thing I noticed, was that unlike many other vegan cookery books, I was familiar with most of the ingredient listings. The few ingredients that I was not familiar with, were all available at my local supermarket and/or health food chain.
You have to be aware that vegan foods do often take a little more time and effort to prepare, but the results are definitely worth it, and of course you can always freeze ahead.
I have discovered how versatile things like tofu and soya milk are. Using these 2 ingredients, ... Read More:
