The ingredients are ones that I feel good eating and feeding to my family, but no one feels deprived or like they are eating what they "should" instead of what the really like. Lots of nuts, fruit, honey, and preserves, are used in the recipes, as well as some more alternative flours like soya flour. The overall feel of the book is somewhat international, in that it seems to take subtle treasures from many cultures and blend them into one cohesive collection.
