This revised book is definitely worth having if you make pasta at home using a hand-rolling machine. It focuses more on pasta dough recipes and instructions for the use of your machine than sauce recipes.
Good points:
It emphasizes the importance of using durum semolina rather than general flour. This is critical if you are to get a great result. All other books and even machine manufacturer instructions don't mention this important fact or even suggest using high protein content flour (bread making flour) if you can't find durum semolina. If you have tried using a hand rolling machine but didn't get great results it's because you used general purpose flour.
I saw this book on my best friends kitchen shelf. Every time I'm in her kitchen I look for a recipe to add to my long list of recipes. I've finally decided to buy my own copy. I like the fact that I don't need a massive list of ingredients to create really tasty food. I defy anyone not to find this book a revolution in gourmet cooking.

Would you believe microwave cooking? How about oatmeal cake with coconut frosting, bouillabaisse or whole wheat cinnamon rolls? I had no idea how versatile a clay cooker is. This book not only gave me recipes for a variety of foods, but gave me information on care and storage and how to convert standard recipes to cook in clay. The recipes are wonderful and easy to follow. If you've ever thought about cooking in clay, this book will make convince you. I loved it. I use it all the time.

The recipes in this book are easy to follow and taste wonderful. The Steam-Roasted Chicken (page 83) was falling off the bones and was very tender and juicy. The Low-fat Chicken Cacciatore (page 84) was just as wonderful. I had to buy my sister her own copy so she would quit taking mine.

I liked the drinks recipes and the notion of leaving them bubbling away in the slow cooker during a party but I found the food recipes very strange. Partly because the ingredients were difficult to get hold of (this is written for an American market) and partly due to the combinations. I don't use this book anymore.

I bought this book because I was thinking of buying a slow cooker and I wanted some example recipes. I have a particular diet problem (dairy free) and I also prefer to avoid meat. I was encouraged to read that slow cookers are not good with milk products and listed are good dairy free alternatives. The intro chapter about what to do and what not to do with slow cookers is useful. But out of 135 recipes only 42 are main meals. No photographs and design is dull. The recipes are uninspiring. American ingredients and measures (no English equivalents). A lot of the ingredients would be hard to find in Asdas. It has not put me off buying a slow cooker, however, and I have found that it's very easy to adapt normal recipes anyway. Sorry, this book was not worth ... Read More:
