It's wonderful to finally find a healthy vegetarian cookbook with easy to prepare meals, and easy to find ingredients! I was skeptical at first about cooking without oil, but it actually tastes better, and I feel lots better too. I also wasn't sure about giving up dairy, since I love cheese, but I haven't missed it yet, and don't think I ever will! Besides feeling and looking better, we're also saving money on our weekly grocery bill.

As a fan and student of whisky I read McDougall¹s memoir with great interest. He covers the highs and lows of working in the odd and fascinating whisky industry candidly with humor and affection. Written in a straightforward fashion that I think would have been greatly enhanced by a good ear for Scots English, McDougall¹s breadth of experience is nonetheless impressive (and possibly unique in the field). I have referred this book to friends for over ten years, and have bought many copies over the years to give to friends with severe health problems. I applaud Dr. McDougall's work in, and emphasis on, preventive medicine. He shows a person how to take control of their own health. You don't have to be sick. You don't have to be a victim of genetics or the victim of the pathology-based symptom-treating medical community. I loaned the book to a friend a number of years ago when he was experiencing chest pains and was scheduled for angioplasty. This cookbook is great! Eating healthy never tasted so good. Meal preparation is easy, fast and uses ingredients that many of us keep on hand. There is a wide variety of recipes for every taste, and even a section of low-fat, healthful desserts.. yum! An added bonus - a forward by Dr. McDougall explaining his program for better nutrition and health. The first cookbook I have ever bought that doesnt contain recipes I wont use. No sifting through this one to find "something" to cook. Every dish is appealing, and I will use this cookbook for years.
