The NBP offers a concise introduction to British Politics, which can be used at A Level and undergraduate level. Packed with facts, it has an interesting dual usage - it keeps students awake with interest by day, and puts the tired undergrad to sleep at night. Recommended.

Being a Naval Architect, I think this is the best book of the series. Here you can find the real anatomy of the whole ship with all the different parts in perfect balance. I mean, there are other books that fill pages with guns and fittings while there is almost no information on hull structure, but in this one, whatever you want to check will be there.
The perspective drawings by John McKay are impressive, I already knew this from Bounty and Pandora, but as in this case he is picturing a more complex machine the result is superb.
Also there is a wealth of information comparing the hull lines of the Flower corvettes with those of whale catchers and later corvettes so you can follow the line of improved seaworthiness.

Admiral Lord Nelson, the most successful naval commander of all time, died on board his flagship HMS Victory at the Battle of Trafalgar in 1805. Arguably the world's most famous ship, HMS Victory was never decommissioned by the Royal Navy and is now the world's longest serving warship.
Writing this review as someone who, primarily, conducts research into ships but also as one who builds model ships, this book is ideally suited for either purpose. Beginning with an explanation of "First Rate" ships and a list of all those which held that rating, author John McKay takes the reader briefly through a career summary of HMS Victory before moving on to her design and construction. From here on he leaves no stone unturned as he describes each ... Read More:

The 50 gun ship (with two gun decks), classed as a Fourth Rate, and was a long lasting ship type, being built from the 1630's through to 1810, and in service till about 1850 or so. It was used in the 'Line of battle' till about 1750, when it was decided that it was too small. The book has a large number of Admiralty draughts, photos, and a set of isometric drawings, with an A3 size, two sided drawing of the Leopard, which includes both the rigging and sail plan as well. The Leopard also appears on the front of the dustjacket where the stern is shown in colour. The Leopard is one of the ships in the Aubrey-Maturin novels by Patrick O'Brian, where it is called the horrible old Leopard! As a ship type it proved to be invaluable to the Navy, being sufficiently ... Read More:

This book is fantastic for anyone who is interested in building a model replica of HMS Bounty. The first couple of pages contain beautiful black and white photo's of HMS Bounty in her prime and history relating to her. The rest of the book contains layouts on how she was built with very fine drawings, details and sketches of the ship. Also includes transcripts about the ship. I highly recommend this beautiful book on this ship if you are interested in building the replica of HMS Bounty ot just to have if you have a stong interest in HMS Bounty well worth the money, best £20 I spent on a book of this kind.
