I'm an avid Slaughter fan, but this one....not so much. In fact, I didn't bother to finish it, it just didn't engage me at all. Borrow someone else's copy if you feel you must read it.
I am a huge fan of Karen Slaughter and was really looking forward to this book but I must say it does not leave up to the standard of her previous books, was interesting at the beginning but becam a bit boring towards the end. I have not given up on Karen though, I am not tooo sure about Will Trents character.

Like others, I was extremely disappointed, and I admit, a tad upset, at the ending. So bothered in fact, that I won't read any more of her books.

After picking this book up at a car boot sale, it took me a while to get around to reading it. Once I did eventually start reading it I could not put it down!! I have now went on to buy the whole series. This is my favourite out them all (there all very good though) I warn that this book can be quite perverted and gruesome in some parts but definitly go out and buy it.

I enjoyed this novel, unfortunatley I have read them out of sequence! No major issue with that as you just get a better insight into Sara and Jefferys lives and characters! Like some of the other reviwers how did the whole town not know that Jared was Jefferys lad, when it only took one look from Sara! A must read for all Slaughter fans!

A prostitute is murdered on the steps of her apartment, in a run down area of Atlanta, and Detective Michal Ormewood is sent to the scene. The police soon discover that there have been a number of recent, similiar attacks, although not always fatal, involving younger victims. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation send one of their agents, Will Trent, who has been investigating these similiar crimes, to assist the Atlanta Police Department with their investigation.
I found this book an engrossing read. There is always something going on in it, that makes you want to read on. The characters in it have depth, and personality, which makes you care about them, when they are in perilious situations. There is a bit of jumping backwards and forwards at the beginning of the novel, but ... Read More:

Sara and Jeffrey discover a girl's body buried in the woods near Sara's home. During the autopsy, it's revealed that the girl was killed with cyanide and Jeffrey's investigations lead him to the Ward family, conservative Christians who run a community on the county border. Family head, Thomas, had a relationship with Sara's mother many years earlier, leading Sara to question her family history and it's discovered that the victim was pregnant, leading Lena to draw parallels with her own life, specifically, her own recent abortion.
Although I've never bought into Sara and Jeffrey's relationship, specifically why she continues to feel so drawn to a man who cheated on her, Slaughter makes it less credible by introducing a hepatitis scare early on that dates back to Jeffrey's ... Read More:
