I've always had an interest in superstitions and constantly get teased for believing in some of them. But, when asked, I couldn't explain most of them and so I bought this book hoping it would help me understand why I do what I do. The book itself explains many old superstitions and I got to undertsand loads of them, but seeing as the book was published in 1988 some are out-dated and many aren't covered, especially some of the more modern ones. If you want explanations on modern superstitions, this may not be the best book for you. Nevertheless, this book is a great starting point, and the superstitions it does cover are studied in detail and variations on the origin of them are discussed.
