There is a fair amount of information contained in this book and the authors writing style make it interesting to read. But when I had finished the book I felt that I had missed something.
The author seems to have issues regarding Martial arts which is fair enough, but shows techniques which appear to be Jujitsu/Aikido hybrids.Yes,I agree,a lot of Martial arts techniques have limited application on the Street, but conversely,it all depends on what you know and what you are willing to do to save your neck.
To sum up,an interesting book but ultimately dissapointing.

Just like the other books from Marc Macyoung, in this book there are no specific techniques shown, but the psychic and emotional side of what is called a knife fight. This is the topic some other books I know lack about. Together with the chapters about stances and grips, this is the best base for realistic training you can get.

Mr MacYoung deals with a very neglected and overlooked aspect of combat, how to deal with and survive an attack by a gang. At first it would seem that you are reading a book about running away however, Animal gives you an easy to follow guide on how to successfully evade and escape and apply hit and run tactics on your attackers. Deatils of how to use everyday common items to slow down and even hurt your attackers is given and how to successfully clear fences and gates easily and effectively. I would reccommend this book to every martial artist and people involved in self defence. Its a must

This book is a very good and realistic book about the art of self defense. It does not really have very many moves or techniques, although dont let this put you off.
It is all about training yourself to be aware of all the dangers involved in fighting and how not to get in those situations. As they say 'Forewarned is forearmed' and with the information contained in this book thats just what you will be.
I have used and I continue to use the concepts from the book, and I have with this info been able to get out of many ugly situations without any violence.
Its a great book buy it you wont be dissapointed.
