What a wonderful book! It captures perfectly not only the highs lows and culture of Sunderland AFC but also 1960's football as Charlie Hurley's rags to riches tale is told eloquently and with passion by author Mark Metcalfe. Interwoven with wider sporting stories of the time its easy too see why this is fast becoming a best seller. If youre a fan of Sunderland AFC or Millwall or if youre just in the mood for a great football tale then this book is for you. I didnt realise in the wider world of football just how highly Sunderland's Player Of The Century was regarded and makes me sad that I never saw the man in action, wearing the famous red and white stripes. Brilliant, buy it!

For a start I love watching O'Shea's Big Adventure. Always been a fan of Mark. Got every episode on tape. When I found out he had written a book I was straight online buying it.
The book's so imformative and I checked in the back and a lot of the photos are by Mark which was brilliant. He's such a great photographer. You see him photograph everything in his episodes. The book's got great colour photographs, and the layout is so easy to follow. It's good for quick reference and you can really easily find what you're looking for. Tim Halliday has done a great job with the amphibians section too.

This book contains large amount of information and therefore it may be argued that it is an important reference in the field. Unfortunately, as a textbook for undergraduate teaching, it is terrible. There are several mistakes in the solved examples. Problems at the end of each chapter are not well prepared. Solving the problems at the end of a chapter do not necessarily contribute to a better understanding of the material contained in that chapter.
A large number of equations related to the activated sludge process are presented, but they are not well connected. How these equations can be systematically used in design is neither well explained nor well exemplified. Overall, this book is not suitable for self-study without ... Read More:

I was pleased that this book is suitable for both Intermideate/Higher candidates, and was even more pleased that the Higher material is highlighted and arranged into it's own section at the end of each chapter; which means that Intermediate students can revise their work, without wasting their time revising the more diffcult work intended for higher tier students.
They present each topic well; with a short explination of how to do a certain question (factorising quadratics for example), and then a series of worked examples. Each topic is then topped off by a series of questions for the reader to attempt. The good thing about these questions is that, when they give you the answers at the back of the book, they write exhaustive comments ... Read More:

I sat my exams in summer 2006. I got an A* all thanks to this book. Its easy to work through, in chapters and then split into revision sessions. It allows you to work through all the possible areas that could come up in the exam and builds your confidence. The book is also split so you can see the higher-tier work that is extra. There are check questions at the end of each revision session with questions directly from the sub-topic. You basically, can prepare for all possible questions! There is a mock non-calculator and calculator paper at the back, as well as all the answers with examiners comments for each one. This really is the key to success for Edexcel Maths at GCSE.

Alas! A good reason for you not to buy any of those joke books. Instead, acquire this wonderful recollection of funny phrases actually said or written........ Suggested to witty quotation fans, of course, but a must for those that don’t possess humor but do have a good memory !!!!! A compilation of hilarious phrases, edited by Fred Metcalf, that will not let you down, in any argument or discussion. Good to break the ice, superb to outwit your opponent, it is the perfect tool to keep at bay the drama, in heavy or intricate conversations. Talking to the pretentious literati or author, you can say: “A good writer is not, per se, a good critic. No more than a good drunk is automatically a good bartender...” If he replies: “Critics ... My son was only 2 when we borrowed this book from our local library and, though we borrowed about 7 others along with it, it was the only one he asked to have read again and again, night after night. He loved the kindness of Mabel and her friends and really wanted to know why she built the wall around her garden if her friends wanted to enjoy her flowers too. It is a very lovely book and I would recommend it to anyone whose child or a child they know has a kind, sharing kind of soul, male or female.

Would you rather lose a problem or find a solution?
Far from being a merely semantic distinction, this understanding appears to be the key that will unlock our innate power to grant our own wishes. Not our superficial, material whims, but the satisfaction of the deep desires and values from which they have sprung.
Peace of mind and contentment comes from following a few simple steps. The book is nicely set out, the first chapters give an introduction to the brief solution focused approach, daring us to put our baggage aside, go wild and imagine just how much we might like to accomplish. ... Read More:
