After trying many recipes from this book, I am yet to find one I dislike, my favourites being the fruit-based ones such as "c-plus" and "back to school". I find it helpful that it gives vital statistics, i.e. the vitamins contained and what the juice is good for, e.g. colds, blood pressure etc. There are also sections on shakes and smoothies, alcoholic juices and a guide to health-giving ingredients. Although there are no pictures, the pages are very colourful and informative. Good for anybody interested in juicing, and suitable for adults and children alike.

Any one wanting to know the benefits of a wide variety of foods from different veg and fruit to oats, sauerkraut, beans, milk, sprouts, even wine and lager should read this book. Not only does it explain their nutrients and vitamins, you are then given recipes, and weekly menus for a variety of diseases. These range from skin complaints to cancer.. .. wow! (Although don't expect to see wine or lager on any of the menu's - damn!)

I was given a copy of this book in 1999 by someone who did not want it any more. Curious as I am, and being a sort/of/health/freak anyway, with an even worse health freak of a vegetarian daughter (now 20), we started at the beginning and went all the way through. Since then we have been trying to acquire more copies of this book, to no avail. Just found the website and now we can express how informative this book is. Have followed so much of the advice given by the writers, and feel so much better. Book has to go back on market! And the 48-hr cold cure on page 73 really does work - even Grandma at 79 years old was convinced when we were both down poorly. Very well written, easy to follow. Excellent menus. Thank you for having written it.

I piled on weight after a foot injury, and having finally decided to take action, I bought this book on impulse. I half expected to be bored during mealtimes and hungry afterwards, but in fact the opposite was the case. Well written and amusingly illustrated, this book makes for an entertaining and informative read even before you start the diet. The black dress diet mentioned in the title was the one I followed (although there are others, including detox plans and a 24-hour beat the bloat plan for those of us with fluid retention and *ahem* wind problems etc) I got off to a great start but what with house renovations and house guests, I found it impossible to stick rigidly to the diet. Despite this I still managed to lose a few pounds and also ... Read More:

I bought this book on the recommendation of a book reviewer in The (Glasgow) Herald newspaper and was not disappointed. It is full of interesting facts about food, such as, two apples a day can lower cholestrol levels. Lemons boost the immune system and help acne. Cheese provides zinc which benefits the male libido. I plan to incorporate the information into my recipe folder to maximise the benefits to my family.
