THERE is nothing actually wrong with this book. It does offer a wide ranging and well-informed discussion about Ireland's natural heritage.
The science is not particularly deep, and I wasn't expecting it to be, but I hoped the prose would capture some of the magic and beauty of the Irish landscape. Unfortunately the expression barely rises above the pedestrian and, to cap it off, some of the photographs are poor.
