I piled on weight after a foot injury, and having finally decided to take action, I bought this book on impulse. I half expected to be bored during mealtimes and hungry afterwards, but in fact the opposite was the case. Well written and amusingly illustrated, this book makes for an entertaining and informative read even before you start the diet. The black dress diet mentioned in the title was the one I followed (although there are others, including detox plans and a 24-hour beat the bloat plan for those of us with fluid retention and *ahem* wind problems etc) I got off to a great start but what with house renovations and house guests, I found it impossible to stick rigidly to the diet. Despite this I still managed to lose a few pounds ... Read More:

I bought this book after having been converted to juicing by Amanda Hamilton. I was bored with the juices offered and wanted a bit more variety. But what I got in this book is so much more than expected. It has a great selection and all I have tried have been delicious but the vitamin breakdown, advice on particular ailments etc set this book apart.
Plus in answer to one of the other reviewers - yes I have seen real health benefits from juicing. Just from replacing breakfast with a juice, I lost tons of weight without feeling hungry, my skin has never been so healthy and other irritating things I thought I would just have to live with have disappeared.

A major problem was cook books in general is that they often require obscure, difficult to obtain expensive ingredients. They also require a Post Graduate qualification by all accounts.
SuperFoods, Superfast trually rises above this. Easy to follow instruction with ingredients that can easily be found at your local health foods store or supermarket. The ingredients are also fairly cheap to obtain. A special mention goes to the Soup Section of the book which provide recipes that can produce four portions which can then be frozen for a later date (great for taking to work).
Of interest is also the factual information about what different foods can offer you. I am now a convert ... Read More:

I was given a copy of this book in 1999 by someone who did not want it any more. Curious as I am, and being a sort/of/health/freak anyway, with an even worse health freak of a vegetarian daughter (now 20), we started at the beginning and went all the way through. Since then we have been trying to acquire more copies of this book, to no avail. Just found the website and now we can express how informative this book is. Have followed so much of the advice given by the writers, and feel so much better. Book has to go back on market! And the 48-hr cold cure on page 73 really does work - even Grandma at 79 years old was convinced when we were both down poorly. Very well written, easy to follow. Excellent menus. Thank you for having written it.

You certainly don't have to be Jewish or kosher to appreciate this cookery book, the recipes are fantastic. I cooked the spiced lamb chops, aubergine rice and baked plums - all dishes easy to make and tasted fabulous. It's easy to follow, nice photos, and 90% of recipes are worth trying out. Bon appetit!!!
