I don't normally write reviews but after such a brilliant book, I think it would be rude not to.
The author's style of writing matches the subject perfectly, and the black humour appealed to me throughout the whole book.
David Simons knowledge is undeniable and you can tell that he has researched this thoroughly.
Because of this book I have started watching 'the wire'(how did I miss that series when it came out?), and they have complimented each other perfectly.
Thanks for a cracking read.

I thought this book was gonna be as good as Angel and read that in like 2 days but this one wasnt as good, and like other reviews it was not a good ending but hopefully there will be a carry on. I really loved the character Cal but he's changed in this book!! I loved Angel and Crystal but this is ok, hopefully gonna be a carry on!

With the release of Jordan's third auto-biography (following on from 'Making a Clean Breast of Things') some people will probably feel that serialisation of her life has indeed been 'Pushed to the Limit'. I shall have to respectfully disagree, however. This book has more wonderful insights into her multi-faceted career- from her early work as a page-three girl to her forays into politics and music. Perhaps most enlightening of all, however, is the account of her recent work as a novelist.
Although critical acclaim for the book 'Crystal' was not as universally forthcoming as she might have hoped, there are many who regard it as being one of the most 'distinctive' examples of contemporary literature since the publication of 'Swan' by ... Read More:

It's a good read, but it's not as good as her first two, and I found she repeats herself a lot. But it's worth reading if you've read the others.

I enjoyed Crystal a lot, a little bit predictable I suppose but enjoyable all the same. I didn't have the same 'can't put it down' feeling as I did with Angel but it was still very good. I wouldn't hesitate to reccomend this book to friends and i'll almost certainly buy Katie's future fiction books x

I wasn't sure whether I would, but I loved it. It was interesting, relaxing, good fun - although a little predictable - have a glass of wine & enjoy this fun read.

I got this book a few weeks ago, and normally it takes me forever to finish a book - as I get bored very easily, but I read this whole book in a couple days! Its a brilliant book, and really interesting, learning exactly what celebs go through. You may not be a fan of Jordan, but after readling this youll find another side to her. Its great.....

This was the first book of katie's that i read and i really enjoyed it. She is very forward about everything she says and isn't afraid to speak what's on her mind! Thats what i love about it, it's just about her. It's a great read and i would recommend anyone to get it, it would be money well spent! :)

I received this book as a free gift as part of a magazine subscription so I can't really complain too much. The book is well produced and relatively interesting as it tells the Spitfire story from a different point of view (that of a restorer). But I must say I am disappointed as I had built a mental picture of what the book was going to be like and in reality it is very different. Being a Haynes manual I expected it to be similar to their car workshop manuals but for a Spitfire. That is it would tell you had to strip down, replace, repair and service your spitfire with lots of detailed exploded diagrams and photos. I don't own a Spitfire so it wouldn't have been of practical value but all the same, would have been quite interesting. In reality the only thing common to ... Read More:

I tend to agree with the previous reviewer, although I did finish the book. This is definitely a case of style over substance. Lush Life is well written, and I am sure is an insightful look at the workings of NYPD. However, the novel really meanders along rather aimlessly, there is not much going on in the way of plot, and the denouement is rather unconvincing.
The same thing is true about the main characters. Although the main protagonist, Eric Cash, is well depicted, it is difficult to really get into any of the other characters, and much of the success of a book like this depends on the reader's ability to sympathise with the characters.
Having just read Right As Rain, I also have to agree that Pelecanos seems on the strength of this a much more engaging ... Read More:
