The story of how a little girl encounters the spirits of animal souls from long ago which help protect her from present day corruption, reminds us of the continual echoes of unseen voices in much of Geraghty's work. For those of you who love highly detailed, sensitive illustrations alongside both interesting, but moving storylines, this book is a must!

Like one of the reviewers above me, this book is my daughter's favourite. I have to read it to her at least twice a night before bedtime. The illustrations are lovely, and catch the actions and expressions of "slobcat" perfectly.
A beautiful little book, colourful and telling the funny story about the world's laziest cat....except of course, we know he isn't !!

My six year old son gave this book ten out of ten in his first book review! It is funny and educational. We all wanted to read it again and again, including Grandma! It is so funny at the end and may make squabbling children think twice!

Now actually appearing in the new cover, this is in fact still Lonely Planet's old Fijian Phrasebook - fortunately!
As such, it not only gives you plenty of useful phrases arranged thematically, but a very thorough introduction to Fijian grammar. This is essential to those planning to actually learn the language, something that may well be useful if you fall in love with the country and decide to stay longer than most holidaymakers.
If you are on a short holiday, you may be relieved to hear that English is widely spoken in Fiji - but trying a few local phrases always goes down well.

This is the story of a frog who can't find anyone like himself. He finds other animals with whom he shares characteristics eg he has a long sticky tongue like a chameleon and eyes like a bushbaby. As he finds more animals he is like his name gets longer and longer! I read this to a small group of 7 year olds at my school who were enchanted with the Hoppameleon's lengthening name, and loved the beautiful pictures.

Many books about dinosaurs which are written for young children are more concerned about having fun pictures and rhyming text than about the accuracy of their portrayal of dinosaurs. Which is fine - except that when your child wants to go beyond cute and colourful beasts there aren't many storybooks to turn to. But this book manages to bring together fact and fiction by crafting a good, dramatic story whilst also paying close attention to the detail of the world of dinosaurs (including hunger, hostility, hunting and killing). It is accesible to young children (it is a solid favourite of my four year) but would appeal to older children too (5 to 10 maybe) for its dramatic (but not too sad or scary) plot. The language is advanced without ... Read More:

My children loved this book. Its exciting and funny, where these 4 children Wally, Willy Tilly and I as the child is known go on an adventure and bump into the Cross Rhinocerous. They go on a little journey and realise that the Rhinocerous isnt scary after all but is just looking for a friend. The pages are bright and colourful and capture the childs imagination. Its cleverly written with rhyming text and gets very exciting near the end. A book you can read again and again.
