This book is filled to the brim with 371, yes 371 individual sources/texts each with an introduction to contextualise each one. Using it for an essay or dissertation will provide you with quotes that you would not be able to find in other books as well as giving you some of the more obvious source which are great too. It is a big book at 1250 pages which was intimating at first when it dropped through the door but really quickly I discovered that its as good as having a whole library in one book which is just about portable.
This is a great book and when you start using it you will realise what a bargain it is too. Worth its weight in gold

I am a Clinical Teacher in a hospital. Reading this book about secondary education transformed my whole approach to teaching and learning. Gone are all those boring PowerPoints, replaced with a couple of smart questions, some protected stress free thinking time, and then off into lively discussions and debates. Pages 32 to 41 on questioning are worth the price of the whole book. I could go on and on, but just buy the book and persevere!

I have just finished reading his book and it is brilliant! It is a great mix of true crime, academic criminology and new journalism. It also suggests new theories about how to look at serial killing - based on Wilson's other books and his career working with serial killers - and he suggests that we should stop analysing the serial killers and their motivation, and instead look at the people that they are able to kill. He calls this the "structural tradition". I read some of the other reviews and they didn't seem to pick up on this aspect of what has been argued here - despite the fact that Harrison and especially Wilson were at pains to draw this point out, and which explains why they were not in least concerned about interviewing Wright (although ... The authors have succeeded in writing a clear and up-to-date introductory textbook for the trainee psychiatrist, which would also be of interest to other doctors encountering patients with psychiatric problems on a daily basis. The text includes both DMV-IV and ICD-10 categories in its chapter by chapter guide to mental illnesses and their treatment. It also features several chapters on relevant topics such as ethics and the law. I personally found this textbook easy to read (if that's not a contradiction in terms) and a good starting point for more specialised study.

The book was so useful in my research and at the same time was very interesting and well presented. The introductions at the beginning of each chapter were very concise but highly informative. It was easy to make comparisons within the book at different artists and writers. A incredibly useful text of primary sources of artists and their works, as well as the external influences at that time.
