I first became aware of the existence of this book, paradoxically enough, through its absence. It was the most elusive resource book in the school where I was working. "Who's got the vocab games book?", was the most FAQ in the teachers' room.
It's an excellent book, with materials suitable for all levels and age groups. Younger students love "Word Battleships", while older students find the "Half Crosswords" both challenging and entertaining.
One of the book's most attractive features is the fact that it cuts down significantly on class preparation time. Once, when teaching proverbs, I had this "brainwave" and spent ages painstakingly writing them out on cards and cutting them in ... Read More:

This is a very good book. It contains activities graded for students of different levels. Some activities can be done in pairs and others in small groups. Games are intended to practice grammar structures ranging from the basic ones (gerunds, present, past, word order) to the most advanced ones (conditionals, phrasal verbs, reported speech, etc). Activities involve information gap, bingo, guessing games, problem-solving, role plays, find the differences, jigsaw readings, surveys, memory and board games. All games are photocopiable and the visuals are really attractive. If you like playing games with your students (no matter their age) this book can't miss in your library!

I've used this little book when giving English tuition to Japanese students, and several of them have liked it enough to buy a copy to take back to Japan with them.
It's arranged into ten topic-based sections, each consisting of four or five short units (covering about four phrasal verbs apiece) and finishing with a short review section. Most of the text blocks and accompanying cartoons are quite entertaining and are set out in such a way that the student can guess the meaning of the verb from the context. Grammatical notes and an index giving examples are also included.
Clearly it's far from being a comprehensive collection of phrasal verbs, but its light-heartedness and small size makes it unintimidating and enjoyable ... Read More:

This is a must have for all teachers of EFL/ESOL. It far surpasses the run-of-the-mill photocopiable activity books available to date. Clearly sectioned, easy to use, innovative and far clearer than any resource book I've used. The content can be used alone or as a supplement and I intend to buy the Intermediate version very soon. It's worth every penny. Useful not only for newly qualified teachers but also for experienced teachers looking for new ideas. Congratulations!!!!
