I read and re-read the incarnations series several times, these are some of my favourite fantasy novels, and thus felt I had to buy this one despite the poor reviews available.
Unfortunately the story dragged, was difficult to get into and added nothing really to the previous 7 books, even though it tells the essential story of the incarnation of night.
Also annoying was that i hadn't realised this was a large paperback with relatively few pages and large print yet very expensive. Even more dissapointed as I avoid large paperbacks normally and wait until the realistically priced normal version is published. Doubly dissapointed.

This is not only the first of many pun filled books, but the best of the series. The others are fun filled and contain some very good writting. But this book has a well developed plot that is worth reading. Be careful though, for the series seems never ending.
Xanth is a marvellous place to visit, espically if you are familiar with Florida. Everybody has a magical talent of lesser or greater degree, but our hero seems to lack one, and heads for exile and adventure.
It is worth your time to pick up this book and follow our heros' adventure.

I'm addicted to the Xanth series, and this latest book hasn't disappointed me. After Fornax lost control of Counter-Xanth, it falls to Cube to find a direct route, the Cube Route, to this new territory. She learns a lot along the way, travels into Mundania and along Ida's many moons. There's still puns everywhere, mainly in the comic strips, but it's not a good Xanth adventure without groans along the way :)

A little less sugary and a bit ruder(not one for the kids!) than the usual Xanth stories, but as charming and bursting with puns as ever! I loved this book as much as I loved the rest of the Xanth Series! Read and enjoy, then buy the rest of them!
