If you want to lose weight and enjoy your food, this book will give you a head start. The recipes are really healthy...and although living in Spain, I have difficulty in getting some of the ingredients, it is easy to substitute with other low GI foods. My husband and I decided we had to change our diet but love fruit and vegetables. I tried a few of the recipes in this book and we are hooked. It helps to plan your recipes for the week, then , when you are hungry, you don't have to make a decision which may lead to buying a quick fix food!

A good book that provides a great deal of information for its price.
The five chapters are: understanding PCOS, all about carbohydrates and the GI of foods, taking charge, putting the GI to work in your day, and recipes. As well as this there is an A-Z of GI and GL in the form of tables, a good glossary and an easy to use index (including a recipe index separately).
The book is easy to read and will not bamboozle you. When I was first diagnosed this is one of the books I bought and is up there amongst the favourites.

I find with many cook books that the recipes are fiddly and time consuming and usually demand a pinch of one ingredient and a splash of another, and before long you have a cupboard full of rare spices that you are never going to use again. This book however is simple to follow, contains ingredients that are generally easy to find in shops and ones that you are likely to use again.
The book gives ideas for breakfasts, lunches and snacks as well as main courses, and gives a real variety of dishes. I haven't cooked all of them yet, but they are all appealing and all things that you could happily feed to non-vegetarian guests or family members, as I have done to positive feedback!

As a registered nutritionist I purchased this book out of genuine interest. Given that there are numerous diet wonder plans and books on the market, that are not based on sound nutrition principles and line the pockets of "fat cats", this book is tremendously refreshing.
The information is communicated well; it is neither too scientific nor lacking. More importantly - it is based on sound nutrition principles (refer to World Health Organisation / NHS guidleines for further, non profiteering, dietary guidlines). Not only does it serve those managing weight control, diabetes etc..it is also an excellent reference point for optimising dietary health across the board (even for those with no specific dietary issues to date, including our ... After years of trying to make 'healthy' eating choices and finding so much conflicting and confusing information, I bought this book on the recommendation of my doctor. It has proved very, very easy to read and very easy to follow in terms of making choices about food buying and eating. A bonus has been steady weight loss and a great general feeling of well being. It has one section explaining what low GI means, how different foods affect us and how eating more low GI food benefits our short and long term health. There is another section which realistically and practically shows how to 'make the switch' to low GI eating and finally, there is a guide to the GI value of the top 100 foods, very informative. It is a book which is very easy to read, ... Read More:
