I have had some wonderful days out with this book. It is highly recommended, an interesting often educational read with great photography.

I have the Reader's Digest DIY Manual and the Collins Complete DIY Manual (Hardcover). Do not bother with the Readers Digest as I always end up refering to the Collins Complete DIY Manual (Hardcover)! Whilst I agree this book is pretty good the Collins Book is more in depth and has more topics.
I was looking for a good all round sewing reference book with ideas of things to make for the home. This book has only a handful of home accessories - none of which i would want to make. The majority of the book is clothing which i found to be very dated styles. It does cover all the different sewing techniques though which is the only good thing.

If, like me, you love water and find yourself in an area wondering what there might be to do to fill in a an evening's walk, this gazetteer is invaluable. Time and again it identifies the local gems, from sea caves to tea shops, ruined churches to secret bays.
If you want to plan a trip then the most spectacular places are highlighted with full page picture spreads. I love it.
Great photos, production, layout and maps (loads of them) too.

First - The atlas covers the terrain and geography of the world rather than giving a political perspective. For an entry level atlas I was expecting it to focus more on telling the countries, regions, states etc rather the detailing the geography of the region. The result is that it is difficult to read place names and figure out borders of states, regions and sometimes even countries. Borders are marked in purple !
Secondly - There is No Palestine ! Amazingly the publishers thought that showing their political allegiance is more important than stating facts about the world as it is.
As a result I would be returning my copy or offloading it as soon as possible.

Well worth the money. It's one of those books that you start flicking through and find yourself still there and hour later. It is laid out with products alphabetically shown. The index covers items need sorting. Great book and really unusual solutions e.g. rubbing peanut butter in to chewing gum stuck in hair. Each page has a "Did you know" piece which gives some facts on the products on that page. There are also Science bits dispersed throughout the book with things you can make and do with youngsters e.g. an alka-seltzer rocket. Some stuff you may well of heard of before and other stuff is just plane and simple weird!!
