The book is designed in spreads - so each double page spread is a specific period in history. In other words, you can dip in and out of this book as you like and there is no need to read it from front to back. It starts with 6 million year old skulls - just to let you know how much history is involved here.

I used this book in all three years of the social work degree course, dipping in and out for assignments, which makes it very good value for money. It is not as easy to read as Neil Thompson's books but it is more in depth and the conclusions at the end of chapters tend to pull the information together and solidify it in the mind. This book was on the essential reading list at Northumbria University and it is well deserving of it's place there, this is a book that should be bought rather than borrowed as it is useful for so many different units.

This book is really special to me as it shows how two ordinary horse lovers discovered Monty Robert's methods of Natural Horsemanship and put them to practice with their horses and now offer their experience to help people with problem horses. The book is written really well and at the same time it's a real story about real people written by them about their inspiring work with horses.
