This book is just what you need if you have an interest in the . . interesting bits . . of history. It's FULL of really beautiful imagery and makes you wonder how they crammed so much written information in with all of the pictures.

The book is designed in spreads - so each double page spread is a specific period in history. In other words, you can dip in and out of this book as you like and there is no need to read it from front to back. It starts with 6 million year old skulls - just to let you know how much history is involved here.

The book is pretty weighty - and about the length/width of a laptop. The front cover is horrible compared to what's inside. I'm not a heavy reader myself but find this book very easy ... Read More:

I used this book in all three years of the social work degree course, dipping in and out for assignments, which makes it very good value for money. It is not as easy to read as Neil Thompson's books but it is more in depth and the conclusions at the end of chapters tend to pull the information together and solidify it in the mind. This book was on the essential reading list at Northumbria University and it is well deserving of it's place there, this is a book that should be bought rather than borrowed as it is useful for so many different units.

This book is really special to me as it shows how two ordinary horse lovers discovered Monty Robert's methods of Natural Horsemanship and put them to practice with their horses and now offer their experience to help people with problem horses. The book is written really well and at the same time it's a real story about real people written by them about their inspiring work with horses.

How many assignments have you tackled that ask you to critically review or evaluate practice? In my experience every single one. This book is the answer. It comprehensively covers all areas of Social Work Practice and invites the reader to grow professionally and personally as it offers an insight into the reflective skills needed to be an effective, transformingly critical practioner.

The book is helpfully structured into sections with easy to dip into chapters which is invaluable when looking for references. I especially liked the conclusions at the end of each chapter which give a clear synopsis of the contents. The list of contributors is an impressive who's who of contemporary, social work authors.

I'm glad I have added ... Read More:
