Following the buzz around the release of the Sex In The City film, I bought a couple of copies of this book as birthday presents for girlfriends, to accompany designer cocktail glasses.
It's a thorough and informative compendium and you certainly wouldn't need to own another cocktail book if you had this one on your book shelves, but I - personally - like more photos (so I know what end look I'm aiming for!). However, I AM looking forward to sampling many of the 1000 suggested concoctions around at my chums houses over the years to come... cheers!! hic!!! >>More Details |

The book offers good advice and examples in places but is not descriptive enough in how to actually write case studies and apply theory to one's practice. Also too heavily weighted towards CBT. The chapter 'How not to write a client report' does not offer any real advice.

I study medicine at Oxford, and this book is basically the bible for the entire year. Use it constantly for every essay and piece of work we're given: It was written in part by a tutor here, and I basically couldn't live without it.
However, be careful: even the most recent edition does have several mistakes (which you'd have to be incredibly anal to pick up on, but they are blatantly wrong). Make sure you use some other sources and your common sense, or else face the terrifying probability of believing that fructose-2,6-bisphosphate is an allosteric activator of fructose-1,6-bisphosphatase. I found this study of Steven Berkoff refreshing, witty, bold and informative. Robert Cross' analysis of Berkoff's self-mythologising is incisive and well-informed. The chapters range comprehensively across diverse material, including Berkoff's early life in the East End, his work with the London Theatre Group, his plays, his autobiography and his politics. There is just nothing else out there on Berkoff and for my taste this book fills a great gap. As a teacher of drama I have long been aware of the tremendous but sometimes questionable influence that Berkoff exerts on young actors and other theatre practitioners.
