I love The Truth About Forever and Just Listen and expected another romance, cleverly written and beautifully told. Although this story was a nice and quite moving tale of two sisters and their changing relationship, it lacked the depth, and the plot of Dessen's other books. And there was no romance at all. :-(

To be honest, this book started off with an incredibly slow start. I was just waiting for something to happen and it never did, till i got past the first 50 pages.
I ordered this after reading Someone Like You, and that book itself was incredible so I was incredibly excited when i started reading this one. Maybe my expectations were far to high after reading the previous book but it was a slight step down - very very slight but nevertheless it was there. Despite this, it created such a wonderful inspiration for me, I looked at everything - particularly my music in a different way.
Highly recomend it, anyone and everyone not just teens.

So Sweet! A lovely read... I finished it within 2 days! A really good book that deserves to be on the bookshelf!
Remy has suffered many blows in life, romantically, emotionally and in her home life too. She has taken all her rules from her mother - whos on husband number 5. She has lived her life through rules and regulations. Then she meets Dexter, a musician, so he's definately off the list - or so it seems, Remy just can't seem to dump him. Although Dexter knows her better than she thinks, he is quite a bubbly chap and loves a good laugh as much as Remy does.
Then Remy tells her friend that Dexter is just a 'summer guy' and one for the holidays. Although she has had more boyfriends than many of us has had socks, she doesn't really ... Read More:

When I first got this book, I didn't much like the look of it, but I read it anyway because I was on study leave and wanted some respite from my revision. I can't honestly say, out of all the books that I have ever read, that I loved one as much as this book. Colie's story of finding herself and realizing the potential that's been there within her all along, is heart warming and endearing. Whilst her mother lost a load of weight and became hugely confident and famous, Colie didn't; she may have lost the weight but she never quite came out of her shell, and has been hding for all these years under an attitude, black hair, a love of loud and heavy music and, more recently, a lip piercing. The story is largely centred around issues of self-esteem and confidence, ... Read More:

It's been a quite a long time that I found myself sitting up until three in the morning, wanting desperately to finish a story. But that is exactly where I found myself the other night with LOCK AND KEY in my hands. I was so engrossed in Ruby and her story that I had to find out how it ended.
Ruby Cooper has always looked out for Number One. When Ruby was eight, her sister Cora left for university and never looked back. It was always Ruby and her mother, moving from one place to another. Her mother's excuse was to avoid creditors and landlords. Ruby slowly comes to find out that this is the version her mother wanted her to hear.
Early on in her senior year of high school, Ruby's mom does a runner. Leaving Ruby all alone in the rented yellow house, Ruby ... Read More:

I obtained this book free from a magazine in 1999 but didn;t read it until i was 14. From the first page, i was hooked and did not stop reading untill i had finished it. The story sucked me in and i felt as if i was alongside Colie, expericing the situations and memories she goes through. As a large teenager, i felt i could relate somewhat to how colie felt at times, and the story left me wanting more. Since reading this book for the first time, i have gone on to reading it many more times, and also to search for other books by sarah Dessen. Like all her other books that i have read, Sarah Dessen writes from a teenagers point and deals with so many issues and problems that many teenagers go through. Sarah Dessn is my favourite Author and i find all the books that i have read(that ... Read More:

I didn't really know what I was getting in to when I picked up this book, I thought it would be one of those basic summer reads sort of thing, but it really isn't, it's a real gem.
It's one of those books that kind of creep on you, and I completely felt for Caitlin all the way through it. She was a very geniune character, and you can understand why she crumbles the way she does. Rogerson is also a very honest character, and despite his many flaws, he is definitely no 2-dimensional.
It's one of the very few books that have ever made me cry (that's right I'm made of stone) but it not just a sad story. It ends with a positive, sort of uplifting message- I say sort of because Dessen lets you know that recovery is a long process. It really is very good.
