I have just received the fifth edition of "Medical Problems in Dentistry" which was recommended by a number of lecturers in dental school. In addition to previous edition which covered a large variety of medical problems, this new edition now contains useful information on more recent issues for example newly emerged infections such as MRSA and SARS and life style and health problems associated with different ethnic groups especially refugees. Other interesting information include chapters on women's health (C41), and complementary therapies (C42).

This book will enlighten you and make you look at buildings afresh. Written in the early 1960's when Robert Venturi had little work, and therefore spare time, it followed on from his thesis studies and ideas gathered while a Rome scholar. If you are considering a serious study of architecture this is a must read. It contains his thoughts on some of his early work, including his mother's house and the beach house, unfortunately never built. Venturi and his wife and partner, Denise Scott-Brown designed the Sainsbury wing of the National Gallery in Trafalgar Square - the one design of many that accepted that this was an extension to the National Gallery - rather than letting the tail wag the dog (see Richard Rogers design.)

great book. the story leaps almost straight into top gear and just continues to accelerate. a quick look at the photos on the back and inside and its fairly obvious mr sculleys trip isnt going to run to smooth. the america verions subtitle one mans courage under fire doesnt even begin to sum it up, although i do believ he stopped short of single handedly stopping the coup as suggested earlier. Having read to death the excellent Cawson/Odell Essentials of Oral Pathology and Oral Medicine, I was expecting great things of this. Sadly, they were not to be realized. Its a serious of pictures of, well, red patches and white patches. Organized by type of pathology. However, there's no indication of the importance of each lesion, common clinical features or any of the information you're going to be expected to regurgitate for exams. Most lesions have only one picture, so its hard to tell what are typical features of that type of lesion, and what happen to be features of the one in the picture. Bought in prefinals panic. A book of art black and white photographs of the rugged and strange landscape of Aran is something to be eagerly anticipated, as a visual companion to Tim Robinson's meticulous and lovely two volumes, Stones of Aran. While this collection of photographs manages to capture some of the relentless geology of this extraordinary island, it takes little advantage of the qualities of monochrome and captures little of the endless variety and craft which Robinson's purely written descriptions evoke so well. A signed copy at £750 may be a sound investment it to some collectors, but a worthy pictorial companion to Robinson's lovely prose has been long awaited. Sadly it has not yet arrived.
